r hangot mutatok még. Alig fordulnak elő „rendes” hangként, vagyis egy nyelv szabványos változatának fonémájaként; inkább csak allofónokként vagy nyelvjárásokban. Az approximáns a tamilban és a malajalámban a legismertebb, de mindkét nyelv latin betűs átírása
